DEFINITELY A "MUST" WHEN IN HOUSTON! This review is based on my personal experience and opinion - I'm a regular customer at Antidote Cafe, a really nice place. I decided to wait for the Covid-19 pandemic to subside to write a review about it so I could be fair and accurate. As I said, we are regulars at this small but nice coffee shop in the Houston Heights District, we go there at least twice a week when I'm in town. We love their latte and their chai latte. . . This is by no means a fancy place. It's decorated haphazardly, with no particular style, but I find this place whimsical and very relaxing. Very friendly, very comfortable, very relaxing, very... forget your troubles for a few... If you look at the photos you can see that they have two main seating areas, one inside and one outside. The seating area inside has two large comfortable sofas and a bench against the wall, among other furniture if you like that type of seating. So whether you are alone or with friends you can still find your place ella e. There are a few small tables outside where you can both enjoy an exceptional breakfast. Whether you come in the morning, afternoon or evening, you can choose the best seat for your needs. When it's cold or rainy you can sit inside and get lost in those soft couches...I love that. Sitting on a plush sofa and holding a hot chai latte in your hand...mmmm...heaven for me. You have a choice of hot or iced coffee drinks and if you don't drink milk you can choose almond, oat, soy or coconut milk (great substitutes). They also have a selection of pastries/desserts and some delicious oatmeal + raisin biscuits (delicious). Now you can offer more products for sale like coffee beans, ground coffee blends and many other products. They have restrooms and they are always clean, which definitely makes your coffee break more relaxed. Things consist of only one member of staff and he/she is always super nice and super friendly. My wife and I love it. (Coming to think of it now, there was another person who served us... but I don't remember his face). The cafe is located in the Heights district of Houston, a very nice area, and not far from the cafe is Studemont Park, a very beautiful city park ... You can go to Antidote, enjoy your favorite hot coffee or ice cream-based drink and drink it in the park...mmmm...icing on the cake!!!!Just so you know, the same person owns a coffee shop called "The Black Hole" which is located near Montrose, very downtown and it is also a very relaxing place. CONCLUSION: go, relax and forget about your problems, at least for the time it takes you to drink a medium latte :D
I like it here! Small but spacious, only problem is parking on busy days but love the guys and gals working behind the cash register <3 baristas they are super friendly and helpful. They always greet me with a smile and answer all my questions! I usually find time to catch up on a book or work and even spend my free time here!
This little corner is quite an atmosphere. Upon entering, you are greeted by a cute cafe, a display of pastries, and local produce like honey. I ordered a cappuccino which was delicious. The seating area is very comfortable with sofas to rest on. The industrial feel of the exposed brick and plumbing stands in stark contrast to the homey setting and lo-fi music. A great place to sit and read, chat with a friend and enjoy a cup of coffee.
